How to spin off a new servelet using a template from image of an existing servelet?

Back

At the moment, our portal doesn't have the capability of allowing customers to spin off new servelets using a template image of an existing servelet. However, we can do it manually. This is how it works:

1. We can make a template from the image of your existing servelet. We would need to shutdown your servelet for us to create the template of your servelet's image. Only the root-disk can be converted into a template, so that if you want your application to be included on the template, you would need to install it on the root-disk instead of data-disk.

2. Once the template is created, we can make it available on the list of OS templates under the plan you intend to purchase for the new servelet. The only downside is that the template will also be available for other customers to select when they purchase a new servelet under the plan. Of course, we can set a unique and "strange" name for the OS template so that other customers will not intentionally select the template when they purchase a new servelet.

3. Alternatively, if you would not like to make the template public and available to other customers, we can make the template private, however you would not be able to select the template directly when you purchase the new servelet. What you can do is to order a new servelet as per normal using any of the existing template, and then open a support ticket to us for us to change the OS template of the servelet to the intended one.
