How to remove additional IP address(es) assigned to your servelet?

Back

If you have additional IP address(es) assigned to your servelet and would like to terminate the subscription, you need to remove the additional IP address(es) first from your servelet before submitting the termination request for the service.

Below are some instructions on how to remove the additional IP addresses from your servelet on some popular operating systems and control panels:

1. Windows Server 2012 R2

- Login to your servelet via Remote Desktop Connection as administrator, using the servelet's main IP address (not the IP address you want to remove).
- Go to Start > Control Panel > Network and Internet > View network status and tasks > Change adapter settings.
- Right click on the "Ethernet" icon and select "Properties".
- Select "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)" and click "Properties".
- Click on "Advanced..."
- Under "IP addresses", select the IP address you want to remove and click "Remove". Do the same for the remaining IP address you want to remove. Please ensure that you do NOT delete the main IP address of the servelet.
- Click "OK" once finished > click "OK" > click "Close".

2. Ubuntu 12 / 14 / 16 (except if you're using Plesk, see point 5 below)

- Login to your servelet via SSH as root, using the servelet's main IP address (not the IP address you want to remove).
- Modify /etc/network/interfaces and remove the section where the IP address is being defined.
- Restart the network services. On certain Ubuntu versions, you might need to restart the servelet for the changes to take effect.

3. CentOS 6 / 7 (except if you're using WHM/cPanel, see point 4 below)

- Login to your servelet via SSH as root, using the servelet's main IP address (not the IP address you want to remove).
- Go to /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts directory and verify what is the filename being used to define the IP address. Normally it will be something like ifcfg-eth0:0, ifcfg-eth0:1 etc. Remove the corresponding file. Please ensure that you do not remove the ifcfg-eth0 file, which is the file containing the main IP address of the servelet.
- Restart the network services. On certain CentOS versions, you might need to restart the servelet for the changes to take effect.

4. WHM/cPanel

- Login to your WHM control panel as root.
- Go to Home >> IP Functions >> Show or Delete Current IP Addresses.
- Click Delete in the row that corresponds to the IP address that you wish to delete.
- Click Confirm Delete.

You may refer to WHM/cPanel documentation here for more details.

5. Plesk

- Login to your Plesk control panel as admin or root.
- Go to Server Management > Tools & Settings > Tools & Resources > IP Addresses
- Select/tick the IP address you want to remove, and then click the "Remove" button.
