What are the different types of VPN available?

Back

Our VPN feature is only available for our Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) range of plans and services. For our New Simple Cloud or Custom Cloud plans, you can choose to run your own VPN server within your servelet.

There are two types of VPN on our VPC:

1. Remote access VPN (per user basis): This type of VPN is configurable via our portal. You would have a VPN gateway on the virtual router (VR) in front of your servelets within your VPC and remote workstations would be able to establish VPN connection to the gateway. You can configure multiple VPN user accounts so that multiple workstations can connect to the VPN at one time, one user for each workstation.

This type of VPN is included on your Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) plan and it's self-managed through our portal. There are no additional costs, unless if you would like to engage our system administration service to configure the VPN for you.

2. Site-to-site VPN: This type of VPN requires a Custom VPC solution which is not available through the portal. The custom VPN solution as well as the VPN settings has to be configured manually by us. Your VPN gateway on the VPC will be configured to establish point-to-point VPN connection with VPN device in your office network, and all the workstations within your office network will automatically be connected to your VPC via the VPN tunnel. Only one site-to-site VPN can be configured at one time. At the moment, only these 2 VPN devices are certified to be able to connect to our VPC using site-to-site VPN:

Cisco ISR with IOS 12.4 or later
Juniper J-Series routers with JunOS 9.5 or later

Additional costs apply for configuration of this type of VPN. You may open up enquiry ticket on more details.
